A Quick Kitchen Update

I woke up this morning with an itch to do a little project. I have been wanting to make some small updates to the kitchen so I decided that's what I would work on. Not wanting to do any heavy demolition, I actually like the kitchen (minus the cabinet color, but haven't been brave enough to tackle that project yet). I spend a LOT of time in the kitchen so I want it to be a place I don't pick completely apart while I'm waiting for things to cook and bake.

I did have a budget and it was quite a small one! Like I said it was a small update! $60 was my spending money, I pretty much had in mind what I wanted to do. So I made a list and pretty much stuck to it. Surprisingly! Naughty me, I did go over my budget by a few bucks but like my niece says "But it's SO hard to be good...!"

-BEFORE AND AFTER-

I HATED THIS DRAPERY THING OVER THE WINDOW, I FELT IT HID THIS GORGEOUS WINDOW AND EVEN BLOCKED A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT-
-MUCH BETTER! I LIKE THAT THE WINDOW LOOKS LIKE IT'S FRAMED ALMOST!-

-BASKETS ORGANIZE MY COOKBOOKS AND WINE EACH BASKET WAS $7.99-

-I FOUND THIS CUTE SUCCULENT ON CLEARANCE FOR $5! BEST PART IS I CAN'T KILL IT BECAUSE IT'S FAUX! WOO!-

-THIS SOAP WAS NOT ON "THE LIST" HOWEVER, FOR $2.99 IT ADDED A COZY, HOMEY TOUCH, WELL WORTH IT!-

-MORE BASKET ORGANIZATION LABELED "BREAD AND FRUIT". I DID BUY A PIECE OF FELT AND HOT GLUED A SQUARE PIECE ON EACH CORNER OF EACH BASKET. I DIDN'T WANT THE BASKETS TO SCRATCH THE COUNTERS. TURNED OUT GREAT!

-MY FAVORITE PART THE "EAT" SIGN. EACH LETTER WAS $3.99- I SPRAY PAINTED THEM BLACK WITH SOME PAINT I HAD IN THE GARAGE. I BOUGHT THE CURTAIN PANELS FROM MARSHALL'S FOR $19.99. THEY WERE ORIGINALLY 84' INCHES LONG (ENOUGH FOR A STANDARD SLIDING GLASS DOOR) SO I HEMMED THEM SHORT ENOUGH TO FIT IN THE KITCHEN. AND HAVE LEFTOVER MATERIAL FOR ANOTHER PROJECT! VOILA!-

-THERE WAS ALREADY A CURTAIN ROD UP, AND I DIDN'T WANT TO BUY ANOTHER. SO I GRABBED SOME PRIMER AND BLACK SPRAY PAINT FROM THE GARAGE AND PAINTED THIS ONE BLACK. I LOVE THE POP OF BLACK!-
