Capitola, California

It's been a while since we've been to the beach. I have been trying to make plans to go for some time now but it seems every weekend something else gets in the way and we end up not going. So to say we were excited when we got a phone call from my sister saying they were going for the day and if we wanted to go as well. With no plans for the day but cleaning house I didn't hesitate to say YES!

We are about 2 hours from the beach give or take. We headed towards Capitola, California. The cutest little beach town which to our surprise was also having it's annual Art and Wine festival. There was a pretty big crowd but tons of booths and shopping not to mention great live music and tons of fun.

We went to the main beach in Capitola. We watched the surfers and played in the sand. These boys love it all! Maverick is still unsure about the water. He has never been a big fan of being in the water. He's more of an observant type. We also are very stern making sure he knows not to go anywhere alone and how the water can be dangerous so he sticks pretty close by.

We stopped by the famous Gayles Bakery which is known for the out of this world sweets and a nice little lunch. Maverick snacked on Mac and Cheese (his favorite) and I tried the Penne Pasta and garlic bread. (it was a great choice) On our way out my sister stopped for some gorgeous flowers at the Farmers Market and we got a fresh Lemon Meringue Pie to take home for the rest of the family. All in all it was a pretty sweet day. Sometimes it's nice to get out of town and just escape for a bit and we sure did! Thanks for reading friends!
